How a lunchbox gets to you

A student-run non-profit, not a company. Every box passes only through student hands.

“We wanted to show that student-run catering can work, and that good food doesn't have to be expensive or hard on the climate.”
Rurik Svensson, Coordinator, Plant-Based Campus Uppsala

    Why plant-based

Less meat on the plate, less pressure on the planet

Research by Elin Röös at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) looked at what happens when Swedes eat half as much meat, and a study by Bunge et al. looked at fully vegan diets. Switch the diet below and watch the footprint change.

    Climate impact

    −52%
Relative to today's typical Swedish diet (100%).

    Land use

    −44%
Farmland needed to feed the same people.

Sources: Röös et al., SLU (50% less meat); Bunge et al., Nature Communications, 2024 (vegan diet with plant-based alternatives). A Green Canteen box is 100% plant-based.
